Netflix lets you control what each profile can watch, block individual shows, and lock profiles with a PIN. These steps follow Netflix’s official help pages; menu names can vary slightly by app version.
Set a maturity rating or block titles
- Open Netflix in a web browser and go to Account.
- Choose Profiles, then the profile you want to manage, and select Adjust parental controls.
- Confirm your identity (password or verification code).
- Choose the maturity rating limit for the profile.
- To block a specific show or film, add it under Title Restrictions.
- Save your changes.
In the mobile app: tap My Netflix, tap the profile name, choose Manage Profiles, select the profile and open Viewing Restrictions. Kids profiles can only be changed in a browser. Source: Netflix Help — parental controls.
Lock a profile with a PIN
- Go to Account → Profiles and choose the profile.
- Select Profile Lock, then Create a Profile Lock.
- Enter a 4-digit PIN and save.
- Repeat for your own profile so children can’t switch into it.
Note: extra-member accounts can’t use profile locks. Source: Netflix Help — Profile Lock.
Tips
- Give each child their own profile, so ratings fit their age.
- Lock adult profiles — a maturity setting on a child’s profile doesn’t help if they can open yours.
